Captain Barrington Irving spoke to students about the Flying Classroom Curriculum. The curriculum, created by Captain Irving, allows students to participate in STEM+ (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Expeditions in near real time all while engaging students in literacy and critical thinking lessons that are aligned with the National Academic/Technical Standards.
While visiting Kendrick, Captain Irving introduced the students to the curriculum with an engaging presentation that allowed students to answer STEM-related questions. After the presentation, students and parents participated in a STEM project that required them to build a parachute that would support the weight of a bag filled with glass beads, allowing the bag to land gently when dropped from a height of seven feet.
